That is the record-high amount of 59,082 million euros spent by foreign tourists in Spain in 2013, it was 9.6% more than in 2012 . In addition, were increased other travel indicators, including the number of tourists by 5.6% and the average daily expenses increased by 3.3% to 109 euros , and the average cost per person , which increased by 3.7% to 976 euros, according to data published by the Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Energy on the basis of official statistics counting the results of the tourism industry.
Increased travel expenses were primarily due to the increase of the number of foreign tourists visiting Spain in 2013.
Of the Spanish provinces , most tourists have preferred the solar Catalonia, which in 2013 received the 14.000 million people from around the world , which is 13.4 % more than the previous year and is equal to 23.7% of the total number of tourists visiting Spain. The average expenses of tourists in Catalonia have also risen above average by 4.9% . By popularity Catalonia is followed by Canary and Balearic Islands and Andalusia Province .
Official data from the Ministry of Industry , Energy and Tourism of Spain has not been ignored the nationalities of foreign tourists visiting the country in 2013. Characteristic is the fact that the list of nationalities is still leading by British citizens who, in addition, in Spain have spent more than other guests – 12.021 million euros , representing 20.3% of the total and 7.8% more than in the past year. The Germans and French are the second and third place as a share of total travel expenses, respectively. In fourth place are citizens of Northern Europe, which in Spain have spent 5,725 million euros in 2013.
The most significant growth in the percentage refers to the Russian tourists in 2013. Although their overall expenses in Spain amounted to only 4 % of the total ( 2,350 million euros), an increase of this indicator was by 28.9 % compared with the last year. Travel expenses of visitors from China also increased significantly , namely by 27.1 %.
