The current year will be held in Catalonia under the motto of family tourism. Government autonomy will spend 2.4 million euros, received from the tourist tax, to strengthen its reputation as a great destination for a relaxing family tourism. Allocated budgetary funds will be spent mainly directed to conduct an advertising campaign in the world.
For the campaign to promote family tourism in Catalonia, which already represents 60% of all tourists coming to rest in Catalonia, the local government has allocated 2.4 million euros. This course was announced by the Catalan Government solemnly at the opening of the “Year of family tourism”, which aims to establish itself as a bastion of family entertainment.
Government Adviser on Entrepreneurship, Felipe Puig, said that the average European family more often “prefers” Catalonia, as a destination and a place of your stay. Puig also said that at the same time, Catalonia is interested in this kind of tourists and family tourism. In addition, family tourists usually use national holiday in order to have more time and thus remain longer in Catalonia than other tourist segments, as well as, of course, require the fulfillment of certain conditions, such as availability and security services and recreation, and other additional features for family entertainment.
Felipe Puig also said that the commitment of family tourism also includes a number of important human values, such as family or social cohesion, and that the advertising campaign “reinforces the reputation of Catalonia” as “a normal country, which shows itself to the world”. During the “Year of family tourism” in Catalonia will be held over a thousand activities and events related to a family holiday, proposed by more than 100 Catalan tourist firms who have joined the initiative of the government.
The campaign will be promoted in a variety of formats, such as television, radio, printed materials, outdoor advertising and websites and will take place from early June to December 2014.
