Foreign investment in Catalonia grows

The official statistics again shows the positive economic data at the end of 2013, this time on the distribution of foreign investment in the country.

Over the past 2013 total foreign investment in Catalonia increased by 31.5% , while in Madrid, Spain investment decreased by 7.1% , although Madrid is still a leader in size of received foreign investments in 2013 .

In general, the country on the basis of 2013 was achieved surplus , the foreign investment increased the outflow of foreign funds.

In terms of money in the economy of Catalonia in 2013 was invested 3,511 million euros, 31.5 % more than last year, and accounting for 22 % of the total investments made in Spain from foreign countries . Madrid also received an influx of foreign funds in the amount of 8,635 million euros, which was 7.1% less than in 2012 .

The overall positive result obtained in 2013 , speaks in favor of the recovery of the Spanish economy . During 2013 the country's economy was invested 15,398 million euros, while in 2012 was registered a negative balance of 3.091 million euros. The foreign investment in neto , after deduction of investments in securities, amounted to 11,998 million euros, an increase of 36.3%. Thus, the results achieved in 2013, are really impressive compared to the year 2012.

In addition, it should be noted the decrease of outflow of foreign funds from Spain , which occurred at 82% and changed with 22.720 million in 2012 to 4,085 million euros for 2013 . Sale of Spanish securities because of their high risk, decreased by 98.4 %, from 16,992 million euros in 2012 to 271 million euros in 2013 .

Such data are the official Register of Investment of the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness in Spain , submitted by the Secretary of Commerce, Jaime Garcia – Legaz .

The Secretary of State also noted that the overall assessment in 2013 on macroeconomic indicators is positive , despite the marked decline in GDP in the first half of 2013.
