Minister of Industry, Energy and Tourism of Spain, Jose Manuel Soria, announced a new forecast of the number foreignness of tourists who will visit the country this year, to 63 million, representing an increase of 4%, compared with earlier forecasts made by the government.
In addition, the country's Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy stresses the importance of tourism as a catalyst for national economic recovery.
Minister of Industry, Tourism and Energy noted that the improvement in the forecasts made by his ministry according to the record levels of the sector in the number of foreign tourists in Spain in October 2014, and added that he received official statistics will be published on Friday this week.
“These tourism for October 2014 will mark a new historical record, which would make probable the fact that during the current year the number of tourist arrivals to Spain will be located around of 63.000.000 people, thereby will be set a new record,” said José Manuel Soria, during his participation in the Spanish Tourism Congress.
If the forecasts announced by the Minister of executive power will come true, it would mean that the number of foreign visitors will be exceeded by almost 3 million (4%) to the registered record high level of 60,660,000 of international tourist arrivals in 2013.
José Manuel Soria explained that at the annual meeting of the Spanish Tourism Congress will be discussed in particular the situation of the national rural tourism, which according to the minister nowadays is in “a much better position than it was in the beginning of this legislative period, when the rural tourism was on the verge of collapse”.
