The direction of main Catalan football club is considering the restructuring of home stadium “Camp Nou”. Reform of the stadium “Camp Nou” in Barcelona will cost 300 million euros, and the construction of a new stadium – 600 million euros.
After the reform of the stadium, it will be covered and will be able to accommodate up to 105,000 fans. Also, will construct a new sports complex and urbanized area adjacent to the stadium. According to the financial vice – president of the club, Javier Faus, the final decision will not lead the direction of the club, but the fans of FC “Barcelona”, composed of the membership of the club.
Javier Faus also explained that the partial reconstruction of the existing stadium is not considered by management as one of the options, as “Camp Nou” needs a full recovery and will be lost seats in this case. It is planned to hold a referendum among club card holders of FC “Barcelon “, on which will be set the main question: a complete reform of the existing stadium or building a new “temple of the Catalan football”? The third variant of the answer will be “no action and leave the stadium, as it is now”.
The vice-president also noted that for the reform of the stadium the construction work may last up to 3 years. While FC “Barcelona” will continue to pursue its home matches at the stadium, and the work will be carried: out outside the stadium in the winter and inside the stadium – in the summer.
Also vice – president of the club hastened to reassure the fans of FC “Barcelona”, noting that the price of tickets for the matches will not rise until at least 2016, and funding reform or construction of a new “Camp Nou” will be made from the profits of the club, which is approximately from 1000 to 120 million euros per year.
Also new is the ability to add in the name of the stadium “Camp Nou” the trade mark of the main sponsor of the football team. This issue will also be discussed at the general referendum next year.
