The airline of «low cost» – “Norwegian Airlines” – will open next year their base in the main airport of Barcelona El Prat. The airline plans to make regular flights to 11 cities in Europe, and since 2016 – open routes to the United States from the Catalan capital.
Norwegian airline has become one of the first companies in the world with low rates on flights, so-called system of «low cost», which is so popular now among travelers in Europe. Norwegian airline now offers its customers also the long- distance flights at very attractive and affordable prices, particularly in the airlines' plans is to connect Barcelona with the United States in 2016. This was stated by CEO of Norwegian airline Bjorn Kjos at the official press conference during his visit to Barcelona in relation with the forthcoming opening of the base of Norwegian airlines in the Catalan capital.
Thus, starting from April 2014 three aircraft of Norwegian airline will reside at the airport El Prat, which will greatly increase the number of flights on major airlines directions from Barcelona. Recently Norwegian airline repeatedly increased the number of flights from Barcelona due to the high demand and currently has 49 weekly flights to 7 cities in Europe. These numbers will increase to 69 and 11 respectively.
The executive Director of the airline also noted that the formation of Norwegian base will create more than 100 jobs at the airport El Prat.
