Real estate sales in June recorded the highest annual growth

In June 2015 a total of 30,578 properties were sold in Spain, which is 17% more than a year ago, representing the highest increase since March 2014. At the same time, sales increased by 3.8 % compared with the previous month, according to the National Statistics Institute of Spain. By autonomous regions, Andalusia is the undisputed leader in the number of commercial transactions, because here 6,129 houses and apartments were sold.

Hereby, in June 2015 the 30.578 transactions of buying and selling of real estate in Spain, which have been closed two or three months before registration in the State Register of Property. This number of transactions has not been recorded since January of this year, when 33,416 houses and apartments were sold in Spain.

It is worth noting that 21.7% of the properties sold in June 2015 in Spain were new and 78.3% of real estate were second-hand. Therefore, the number of transactions with new residential real estate decreased by 30.6% compared to June 2014. Meanwhile, it was recorded an increase of 44.5% in the number of transactions with resale real estate in Spain.

By autonomous regions, Andalusia is the leader in the number of transactions on sale of real estate with a total of 6,129 items which were sold here, followed by Valencia, with 4,659 transactions and the Community of Madrid, with 4,362 units sold.

Fernando Encinar, the head of research of Internet portal Idealista, explains that "the annual increase in the number of property transactions in Spain for the past 12 months shows that the recovery of the Spanish housing market is a reality. Although we may still see a slight change to the reduction in activity, but it seems that the change in the trend will continue in the coming months."
