The expected date of disappearance of telephone roaming in the EU was named. The mobile roaming in the European Union will be canceled on December 15, 2015 . The European Parliament passed a law to stop the overpayment, by which are characterized the mobile calls, text messages and Internet usage in roaming, that is, when the user is out of the country, which is the mobile communications provider.
The European Chamber of Deputies by a majority vote – 534 in favor, 25 against and 58 abstentions – adopted on first reading a law prohibiting the increased cost and premium , which is added to European phone companies , when the user is abroad , namely in the area of mobile roaming . Thus, from December 15, 2015 all mobile users in European countries will be able to make calls, send messages and connect to the Internet without fear of a huge bill.
In addition, the European Parliament supported the new initiative , whereby the telephone companies can not specifically block or slow down running of such modern and extremely popular mobile apps like Skype or Whatsapp, which are in direct competition with regular telephone calls and messages.
New rules heavily hurt the interests of European giants of mobile phone industry as Telefónica, France Telecom and Deutsche Telekom, which immediately express that cancellation of roaming will significantly reduce their revenues, and at the same time slow down and force these companies to reduce significantly the necessary investment in telephony infrastructure to replace all telecommunications suitable for use on the new generation of optics (the so-called fiber optics). Using of fiber optics at times improves the quality of voice and image transmission over long distances. Currently, many European telephone companies replace and adjust their communication by the use of precisely this type of optics.
