The official visit of the President of the Government of Spain to Kazakhstan

Mariano Rajoy, the Spanish Prime Minister, is currently in the capital of Kazakhstan on an official visit, the main aim of which is to support Spanish companies located in the Central Asian country.

Head of the Spanish State will hold fruitful talks with Kazakh President Nazarbayev Nusurtan on economic and cultural cooperation between the two countries. In addition, Mariano Rajoy also expects to talk to Asian colleagues about the improvements reached in the Spanish economy and its future development plans of the country.

During the first quarter of 2013 exports to Kazakhstan amounted to the sum of 209 million euros, more than the total annual figure for 2012.

One of the first official acts, which was attended by the Spanish Prime Minister, was the conference on environmentally friendly economic development, held in the state capital, Astana.

The event Mariano Rajoy said about great strides made recently by Spain on reducing the amount of carbon dioxide emissions into the atmosphere, as well as a high percentage (75 %) of waste recycling registered in the country. The conference was attended by the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan, Serik Akhmetov and exminister of Germany, Joschka Fischer. Spanish Prime Minister praised the initiative of Kazakh authorities for the event with similar characteristics and also expressed his security about what the future is for the economy and the technologies that are respectful and protective with the environment.

“Make progress, using “green economy”- is a challenge for the future. But even more difficult to do so while protecting the environment and at the same time creating new jobs. To achieve these goals, all of us, governments, businesses and citizens need to work a lot and be coordinated “- said the head of the Spanish state. Mariano Rajoy did not forget to mention that Spain is the second country in the European Union by the number of companies registered in the European system of management and control effect on the environment, as well as Spain has the largest area in Europe, destined for ecological agriculture.

One of the main points in the negotiations will be also the fact that Kazakhstan is becoming increasingly attractive for Spanish companies, which is reflected in the growth in three times the size of exports to the Asian country during the last three years, reaching the amount of 209 million of euros.
