Tourists prefer to go shopping in Madrid and Barcelona

Two Spanish cities are among the three best cities in Europe, where tourists come not only to relax but also for the long-awaited shopping.

In Madrid, tourists are attracted by a larger variety of shops, as the Catalan capital gains in terms of transportation and customer service.

According to estimates of tourists, it is in Madrid and Barcelona, there they are able to successfully combine the best of relax on the sea and go shopping. Barcelona and Madrid have each estimated at 67.1 points out of a possible 100, which surpassed only the capital of the UK. London received 67.3 points out of 100, according to the Globe Shopper Index, which is compiled on the basis of an assessment of the advantages and disadvantages of shopping in 33 European countries.

Despite the indisputable leadership of the capital of UK among tourists traveling for shopping, the Spanish cities are not inferior to it in many key indicators. For example, Madrid offers for tourists much more stores and shopping centers, with a large presence of well-known international brands of clothes, shoes and accessories. For this indicator, the Spanish capital is second, only behind of such a recognized global fashion capitals like Paris and London. And Barcelona, in turn, takes 5th place in the ranking of European cities, even ahead of Italian fashion mecca of Milan.

As for the cost of purchases, the important factor in the attractiveness of a destination for tourists, in this case, Barcelona is ahead of the Spanish capital, offering its visitors excellent products at more affordable prices. On the cost of the trip, taking into account the price of accommodation, food and shopping, Madrid is the most expensive city in Spain.

Barcelona also has a leading position in the number of hotel beds and public transport links to the main commercial centers. Thus, according to the Catalan capital indicators located on the third place in the ranking of European cities, followed only to London and Copenhagen. Madrid is on the fifth place. Between the two Spanish cities is situated the French capital – Paris .
