World Trade Center in Barcelona is on sale

The company “Port of Barcelona” is now selling the World Trade Center of Barcelona, which is situated next to the terminals of Trasmediterránea.

Currently, the process enters its final phase, which means receiving several proposals for the purchase of this historic building of the city. The transaction will be completed in the coming weeks.

The World Trade Center Barcelona, located in the old port (Port Vell), is a big commercial complex which will be sold in the near future, after six months of searching the buyer. Last week was completed the period specified by the current owner for receipt of proposals from interested parts: individuals and companies.

Port of Barcelona, under the direction of the City of Barcelona, owns 52% of shares of the company owning the WTC (World Trade Center). Among the major shareholders appear such large companies as the construction companies FCC, Acciona and ACS from Madrid, with 16.52%, 16.51% and 4.7% shares, respectively. In turn, the Banco Santander Corporation owns 9.99% of the shares of the WTC Barcelona.

Barcelona World Trade Center was opened in 1999 in an administrative concession, the duration of which expires in December of 2052. It covers 140,000 square meters and includes the largest office complex in town with 40,000 meters of office space. WTC also includes about 4,500 m2 of commercial spaces and 4,000 m2 of conference rooms, a five star hotel and 900 parking spaces.

The management company, which currently sells the complex, last year recorded a turnover of 15 million euros and net profit of 1.6 million euros, most of which were used to pay dividends. Hotel activity represents 14% of total revenues.
